Of course, I use the tanglefoot recommended but thin it with some cooking oil in a small container for easier spreading onto the yellow plastic. Works great. The regular garden is full of winter squash, tomatoes, okra and a fall canning crop of green beans. I was so proud until I realized I'd left no room for beets, broccoli, kale and the like. So - how does my garden grow? They also crawl up stems, but their primary means of transport is to fly from food source to food source.

Check out some of the big box stores, K-Mart, Target, etc. and usually one or the other of them have yellow cups. The other thing you can use are the water noodles that kids play with. Dollar Store usually has them for around a dollar and they can be cut up into pieces (use yellow, of course). The only sticky substance that doesn't wash off, and thus, works, is Tree Tanglefoot. In my lifetime he was living in Lowry City, MO, but I believe he may have been from nearby Johnson City earlier in his life. In 1933 he would have been about 17 or 18 (b. Jan 15, 1916).
